I think when it comes to how to create a healthy routine or develop better self-care, things can get convoluted very quickly. Online advice varies from one spectrum to the other. That being said, one of the most asked questions I receive is, “What is your routine?”
Here is my attempt to demonstrate how I incorporate healthy habits and structure into my everyday routine.
I typically wake up at 5 am during the work week, but while I was documenting this day I slept in until 6 am. What that means for me, is that I will now have to do my workout after I get the kids to the bus.
Starting my day:
Upon waking I check in with my Facebook groups, Intermittent Fasting: Challenge 45 and Find Your Inner Goddess. I usually check on my community “Cynthia’s Circle” and make my Instagram posts. I like to create my own posts that reflect my mood and intention for the day. These aren’t done by a team member months in advance. They are always my actual thoughts for the day, I hope that comes across.
I then wash my face with my new favorite from Beautycounter, Countertime Lipid Defense Clenasing Oil. I’m currently brushing my teeth with Dr. Bronner’s cinnamon toothpaste. It’s important to me that I start my day with as little chemical exposure as possible.
Once the boys are off to school I take my next set of boys out for a walk…. the Doodles! Baxter and Cooper need love too. Cooper is our labradoodle and Baxter is our golden doodle. Taking them for a walk also helps ensure I meet my steps goal for the day. Working from home, and largely on a computer, I try and incorporate walking as much as I can.
After the dogs are handled, I can head to the gym for my workout. Today’s workout is Tabata style interval training. I am not someone who does a lot of long-form cardio. Tabata fits my needs perfectly.
Tabata – 8 rounds of 20 seconds on and 10 seconds of rest, for a total of 4 minutes.
On this day I did:
Forearm push-ups, tuck jumps, Jacks, plié jump squats, and mountain climbers with a twist.
Broke my Fast
Grass-fed beef burger with asparagus. I added some Cava hummus as a healthy fat.
Back home and back to work:
I recorded a podcast with Aren Deu at Find Your Voice Podcast.
I had a team meeting with my digital manager, Ambra of Ambra Jo Design Co.
I had a strategy session with my PR rep and Superconnector, Avagay.
While working I love to listen to podcasts. Today’s podcast episodes were Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations featuring Malcolm Gladwell and The GOOP Podcast “Why You Want to Feel Fear”
Once the boys get out of school we typically have sports of some type. On this day, Liam has swim team practice. Once I take him there, I use that time to run some errands. I had returns to make to Nordstroms and Banana Republic, then I headed to the Post Office to mail out client supplements. It doesn’t get more glamorous than this, folks!
Moms will relate to this, once everyone gets home from work, school, and activities, it’s time for dinner, homework and important details of the day. I love connecting with my boys and trying to get them to eat some healthy food and hear how they are doing. As they get older their schedules tend to be busier than mine.
Within this hectic chaos that is our evening, I didn’t manage to snag photos. But please know the doodles made their appearance, the boys entertained us and we did eventually eat dinner.
I find my routine before I go to bed to be some of the most important moments of my day. Setting myself up for quality sleep is essential for keeping my hormones balanced, my body supported, and my energy levels up to meet the demands of the next day. I have found two CBD products that my family is loving. I am currently using sleep gummies from the Charlotte’s Web line from Direct CBD. And my husband, Todd used the cream after golfing and loved it as well.
Because I love these products so much (I’m pretty sure these gummies are the reason I woke up an hour later than I intended!) I became an affiliate for Direct CBD. Use the link below to get CBD products you can trust. DIRECT CBD ONLINE
That is my breakdown of a typical day in the life of Cynthia Thurlow. I’m not sure it’s all that exciting… but I do hope you can get a glimpse into how I incorporate healthy living in a seamless way. I use everything from supplemental products, nutrition, exercise, and routine to make sure I’m doing everything I can for my body. Also note, that I don’t buy protein powders, gimmick shakes or magic pills. I credit my health to consistency and basics that work.
