Dr. Tom had an extremely poor upbringing in The Bronx, New York. Despite his upbringing, his intellectual brilliance brought him opportunities such as managing a business at age 11 and going to college at age 12. His passion for curing cancer was ignited by an incident in his childhood when his babysitter died suddenly because of brain cancer – at the age of 19.
