Being chosen to be a TEDx speaker is a dream come true. Throughout my life I’ve set goals and worked hard to attain them. But it wasn’t until I had my own health crumble from too much stress, leaky gut and a host of other issues, four years ago that I decided to dig deeper. I knew I needed to from just merely surviving to thriving. I’ve been transparent about my own journey, you can read about that HERE. I decided to do the hard inner work required to actually sign up and put myself out there for scary things. I decided to pursue those scary things with determination and an elimination of limiting self beliefs. And most importantly, I decided to enjoy the process!

I changed my life from Surviving to Thriving

To be honest, getting accepted to do a TEDx talk wasn’t simple. I submitted and resubmitted mulitple pitches, topics and outlines. Fears would rise up with a quiet determination to undermine my work. I decided to not listen to them. I knew from my personal experience, and from the many women I have worked with, that this message needs to get out.

I’ve spent over 20 years working as a nurse and a nurse practitioner. I’ve spent the last three years serving women online as a functional nutritionist. I’ve heard countless concerns being expressed by women regarding their malaise related to hormone health and their concerns were not being readily addressed. There is a missed opportunity in our society to help the millions of women who enter menopause. I want women to have the tools they need to look forward to this time in their lives. Current statistics show that 40% of a woman’s life will occur after menopuase. That’s a significant amount of time.

This message is vital to women everywhere.

What TEDx taught me

The physical act of getting on that stage is something I will never forget. It taught me one of the greatest lessons that I have learned so far… I am capable of anything. I’ve been able to conquer health issues, change careers, challenge myself with big goals and now I have conquered my fear of being on a world-renowned stage. There is a self confidence that can only be created from doing the hard things and overcoming obstacles. I’m a firm believer in hard work because I know the postive effect it can have on our mentality.

If I hadn’t done exactly the work described in my talk, I wouldn’t have gone from surviving to thriving.
