2022: My Year In Review

It’s hard to believe we are already four months into 2023! For me, the new year has been busy with many growthful opportunities, both professionally and personally.

Reflecting back on 2022 my heart is filled with gratitude for the incredible journey I have been on.

As we lean into spring, I’d love to share with you my top highlights of 2022!

Book Publication

I never would have imagined writing a book, but after my 2nd TEDx talk in March of 2019, it was evident that women, in particular, were desperate for a female-centric view on intermittent fasting. I felt compelled to bring this idea to fruition and….

That dream became a reality on March 15, 2022, when my first book, Intermittent Fasting Transformation, was published by Avery (Penguin Random House LLC). This book has become a resource for women to use intermittent fasting effectively to balance their hormones, gain energy, lift brain fog, sleep better, lose weight (and keep it off), and feel their best, regardless of age. The impact of empowerment centering around metabolic health is my true calling!

My book has sold over 50,000 copies to date and is now available in German, Spanish, Chinese, Czech dialect, and Taiwanese. It is available in print forms, Audible and Kindle, too.

I’m grateful for all the women, including licensed healthcare professionals, health coaches, nutrition pros, and even an engineer, who have benefited (and continue to benefit) from my book, in addition to my IF:45, Wholistic Blueprint, IF:30, and coaching program.

Traveled to Eastern Europe

During the pandemic, my youngest son started learning German, and he really impressed upon us how important it would be to see not only Germany but also Eastern Europe. So in June 2022, we made the journey to see the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary.

Our first stop was Prague, where we toured the city, ate lots of delicious food, embraced the beautiful architecture and amazing humans, and were truly humbled by how much we enjoyed being there. The city tour provided us with a solid foundation of history, especially before/during/after the Cold War and communism. As a former poli-sci major, I absorbed our wonderful tour guide’s experiences and guidance in learning more about the culture and its evolution. My family did, too

At the request of our youngest, we also toured Terezin, a concentration camp north of Prague that served as a holding location for many Jews during World War II. It was a very solemn experience but one that was very impactful.

After 3 days in Prague, we left for our Danube River Cruise, which took us to Budapest, Vienna, Dürnstein-Wachau Valley, Passau, Regensburg, Roth, and Nuremberg. Each location provided us with rich history and culture, while creating special family memories.

Launch of Creatine Supplement

Creatine Monohydrate is a supplement that has been a regular part of my regimen for a few years. I believe in its benefits so much that I created my very own last year, in partnership with MD Logic. Creatine by Cynthia Thurlow is monohydrate: pure, unadulterated form of creatine that our body can easily utilize.

Quality is incredibly important and I’m happy to share that with MD Logic, our product goes through intense quality control, including:

  • Extensive lab testing
  • GMP certified facility, based in the US
  • Multi-stage lab analysis
  • Tested for purity, strength, composition, compliance and safety
  • Climate controlled environment

Creatine is an amino acid naturally found in the body that helps create ATP (an energy source for our bodies). Research shows that females have 70-80% lower endogenous (naturally created) creatine stores than males. Unfortunately, we can’t consume enough foods rich in creatine from our diet, so supplementation is key. Women in their peak cycling and fertile years through menopause benefit from adding creatine to their supplement regime.
For younger women, the fluctuations of estradiol and progesterone throughout their cycle impact changes in creatine needs associated with protein and carbohydrate oxidation.

The unique changes in perimenopause and menopause, as well as the lowered levels of circulating estrogen in menopausal women, are major contributing factors to increased inflammation, oxidative stress, and reduction in strength and muscle and bone loss. When combined with strength training, creatine supplementation has been shown to be a potential countermeasure to middle-age muscle, bone, and strength loss. In addition, creatine also has been shown to support brain health and cognitive performance.

With all the success my creatine has had, I am excited to continue adding supplements to my line. So far in 2023, I have launched Myo-Inositol, which helps support sleep health, brain function, blood sugar, and metabolic flexibility.

Speaking Gigs

Between traveling with family and launching my book and creatine supplement, 2022 also bought numerous speaking opportunities nationwide. (11, to be exact!)

I spoke at Biohacker University & Congress, College of Naturopathic Medicine, Keto Salt Lake, Ketocon, Momentum in the Mountains, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition, and Precision Analytical, to name a few.

If I had to name my top 4 speaking events of 2022, it would be:

Podcasts

My Everyday Wellness podcast continued to grow over 2022 as I covered topics from healing the gut naturally to understanding and healing traumas. We had a record year of downloads and connected with so many experts, healthcare professionals, and wellness voices. I’m truly humbled by the impact this podcast continues to make in people’s lives.

In addition, I was honored to be a guest on some very inspirational podcasts!

Influencer's Dinner in NYC

In December 2022 I attended The Influencers Dinner in New York City.

What’s The Influencers Dinner, you ask? It’s an exclusive, invite-only dinner where 12 influencers come together, share a meal, and connect. The catch is, we didn’t find out each other’s professions until the end! This is hosted by the author Jon Levy at his beautiful home.

These influencers are from all walks of life, and represent many different industries, such as Olympians, journalists, corporate executives, etc. It was an evening of incredible conversation, lots of laughs, and the beginning of long-lasting friendships. To say I was honored to be included in such an amazing opportunity is an understatement!

Final Thoughts

Wishing you all the best in 2023!
